Wooden benches, changing leaves
What divine scenery.
Nathan wiggled, Nina whined
Sitting still is hard sometimes.
Mike spoke on Kingdom living,
Sharing words from a similar setting.
On a mountain side Jesus spoke
Words to the tattered, torn, and broke
Words to the rich, proud, and strong
Each probably heard as He went along.
Here I stand with a baby boy in my embrace
In Daddy's chest our little girl buries her face.
Such gifts from God I can not claim.
They are not mine to keep, but to train.
I pray that I may be strong and wise.
Mostly that God will never leave our side.
I pray that he will hold them in his hands
That they will serve Him and seek his plan.
Help them both to be bold and brave.
To fight for those whose voice is enslaved.
And may my own heart and actions teach
love, humility, righteousness, and peace.
Matthew 5:3-10
'Blessed are the poor in spirit
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.'
4 Blessed are those who mourn,
for they will be comforted.
5 Blessed are the meek,
for they will inherit the earth.
6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
for they will be filled.
7 Blessed are the merciful,
for they will be shown mercy.
8 Blessed are the pure in heart,
for they will see God.
9 Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they will be called children of God.
10 Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
